Dulqer Salman was born on July 28, 1986 in Kochi. Dulquer Salman is the second child of actor Mammootty and his wife Sulfat. Dulquer moved to the United States and graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Business Management. After graduation, Dulquer worked in the US and later did an IT-related business in Dubai. Dulquer Salman, who later decided to pursue an acting career, attended a three-month course at the Barry John Acting Studio in Mumbai.
